The Kyabram District League (KDL) has informed AFL Goulburn Murray that Dookie United Football Netball Club has advised in writing that they will not seek membership in the KDL beyond 2024.
While Dookie United has chosen to leave the KDL, AFL Goulburn Murray (AFLGM), AFL Victoria (AFLV), and Netball Victoria (NV) will continue to support the KDL Executive and member clubs to establish a plan to build the KDL Clubs' capacity to develop solid junior pathways.
This year, KDL clubs had their most robust junior team presence in the Goulburn Murray Junior U10 and U12 competition, forming a sustainable foundation for participation growth. This is supported by a solid regional strategy and action plan to grow the game from NAB AFL Auskick and NAB AFL Superkick through to senior local football.
As an unaffiliated club, Dookie United FNC will not be entitled to access program support and funding from all levels of the AFL including facility funding, access to junior talent programs or competitions, representative pathway programs including V-Line Cup and Coates Talent League, access to the National Protection Program, Child Protection Cover, eligibility for the State Government Active Kids Vouchers and protection of National Rules, Regulations and Policies including players being able to transfer without regulation.
Last week, the KDL Executive endorsed a discussion paper following one-on-one consultations with all clubs. The paper is now open to KDL member club feedback. The KDL Executive is committed to continuing to work with all affiliated member clubs, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria, to strengthen the foundation of the KDL competition.
